• The Land of Enchantment: Santa Fe New Mexico

This week it's all about the Land of Enchantment, Santa Fe, New Mexico!

The first thing you want to do when you get to this beautiful city is to go to the Plaza. You can sign up for walking tours along the Historic Railroad District, and Canyon Road where there are dozens of galleries lining the streets.

    Santa Fe Railroad District

My favorite gallery on Canyon Road is New Concepts Gallery. There are always fabulous new pieces from contemporary artists - stop by and see for yourself!

Gallery owner Ann Hosfeld and Bonnie

After that, you'll want to take a ride up to the ski basin to Ten Thousand Waves. It's a beautiful area with views of downtown Santa Fe. You can get a massage, and even relax in a hot tub in the middle of the forest. Just magical!

    View from Ten Thousand Waves

In a town of beautiful adobe buildings, there's the famous Santa Fe Farmer's Market! It's one of the largest farmer's markets in the United States with over 150 vendors and hundreds of different agricultural products. Not to be missed!

    Santa Fe Farmer's Market

The art scene in Santa Fe is unbeatable in the summer months. Visit the International Folk Art Market, the largest in the world with 160 artists from 53 countries. There's also the Santa Fe Indian Market, which takes place the third week of August in the downtown Plaza with over 1,000 of the best Native American artists.

International Folk Art Market - Santa Fe, New Mexico

One of my favorite galleries outside of Santa Fe in a little town called Glorieta is Gallery Zipp, in a 200-year-old farmhouse. A husband and wife team, Bunny Tobias and Charles Greeley, will share their art, along with a beautiful collection of other local artists.

    Bunny and Bonnie

When it comes to the music scene, the Santa Fe Opera is happening through August 26th. It's their 61st season, with five different operas, in one of the most beautiful settings I've ever seen. Get your tickets online at

    Santa Fe Opera House

There's also the Chamber Music Festival, from July 16th to August 21st. There are over 40 different concerts this season! Check the online schedule here.

A special favorite of mine is Doug Montgomery at Vanessie Santa Fe. It's a little restaurant piano bar and Doug sings and plays. A wonderful way to spend an evening, and a delicious one too!

    Doug adding to the atmosphere.

  • I Left My Heart in San Francisco

If you left your heart in San Francisco, or you want to take that little cable car up to the stars, it's time to go to San Francisco, and check out all the wonderful things happening there this summer. A great place for a holiday!

The best scene of the San Francisco skyline is a little secret. You can take a walk down to Fort Mason, where all the galleries are along the Bay, and take a foot path to the end of the Municipal Pier. You will flip when you see the skyline from that viewpoint!

To catch all the windsurfers, take a walk down to Crissy Park, and take the foot path all the way along to the Presidio and the Golden Gate Bridge. You can actually cross over the bridge to Sausalito. That's an amazing place over in Marin County.

Sausolito - a great day trip for Bay Area explorers.

Always a treat to see the San Francisco Symphony in the summer do free concerts at Sterns Grove, Pier 27, and even the Shoreline Amphitheater. This summer they'll be doing a series of concerts including the music of John Williams. Check their schedule online (HERE) for other listings.

Symphony in the park, Pier 27.

A treat for the entire family: The Exploratorium! It's open through September 4th, featuring a show called "Wildcard," an entire physical landscape built out of cardboard including a 50s style diner where you can have a cup of coffee and a snack. Sounds like fun!

    Exploratorium in full swing.

Take in the city by the Bay's art scene this summer. Over at the Legion of Honor there's the Degas and Impressionism show. Over 40 pastels and paintings by Dega, Manet, and Toulouse-Lautrec. Over at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, for the very first time in the United States, a collection of Edvard Munch paintings from 1880 to 1940. It should be wonderful.

    Legion of Honor, San Francisco.

San Francisco has the largest and most comprehensive world dance and music event of its type in the entire U.S, the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival. Twenty-four Bay Area groups will perform at the Memorial Opera House from July 8th through the 16th. Everything from Bollywood, Balinese, West African, Cuban, Japanese and more. It should be fascinating!

Dancers from all over the world, gathering in SF.

When you're in SF, downtown by Union Square is so much fun. There's shopping, great restaurants, and more. But something very unique is happening on July 15th. It's the 54th Annual Cable Car Bell Ringing Contest takes place, and you don't want to miss that.

    Ringing in summertime.

So whether you're watching the fog roll off the bay in San Francisco and looking at the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge with those beautiful cashmere sweaters and lightweight leather jackets, or down in steamy Florida wearing your lightweight cottons and linens, it's all about style.

  • Rocky Mountain High

Bonnie's buzzing around the country this summer, and Bonnie Loves to Travel! I'll be sharing with you all the wonderful spots in the United States and what to do when you get there.

This week it's all about Rocky Mountain High, and Aspen, Colorado is the place to be! Aspen is home of the Food & Wine Festival, the Aspen Art Museum, International Music Festival, and the ballet.

    Lot's to explore in Aspen.

On the Fourth of July, a parade runs down the old part of town down Main Street and fireworks are all over the Aspen mountains. Bike ride down to the Rio Grande Trail all the way down Valley to Basalt, and then cheat and take the bus back to town.

4th of July Parade in Aspen, Colorado.

Make sure you stop at the Woody Creek Tavern, a must for everyone for a fabulous lunch and a way to recharge the battery.

Wood Creek Tavern - great place to grab a bite.

Hike around Maroon Bells. It's amazing, the most breathtaking part of the Rockies. You can even take public transportation! They have buses that take you right to the trailhead, and you can take beautiful pictures. You can even take a gondola up Aspen Mountain for a view of the entire Aspen Valley, and the view of the Continental Divide.

    Maroon Bells, CO

People go to Aspen to ski in the winter, but the summers are gorgeous! The music festival brings loads of people from all over the United States and Europe.

Aspen Musical Festival - enjoy music and the outdoors at the same time!

On Sunday afternoons you can go and sit on a blanket and have a picnic and listen to the visiting orchestra for free. Also, there are wonderful exhibitions at the Aspen Art Museum.

A personal favorite: War Paint, starring Christine Ebersole and Patti LuPone. Christine's been a friend of mine for 35 years. She's won two Tony Awards! Patti LuPone is also a major star on Broadway and a Tony Award winner. They play Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubinstein - with set designs, and costumes, and voices like that it's not to be missed!
