January keeps buzzing on, and February looks to be very exciting here in Palm Beach County!

Bruce Helander, a wonderful collage artist, will be having a one man show at the Fritz Gallery on Royal Poinciana Way in Palm Beach. You don’t want to miss that!

Bill Mays, a fabulous jazz pianist, will be performing the piano at the Mandel Public Library from 5:30 to 7:30 PM this Friday. Also, the Norton Art Museum will be opening on February 9th – check their website here for their most recent activities.

Steve Ross will be doing a tribute at the Kravis Center this weekend at Pearson Hall – details at kravis.org. Culture & Cocktails will be having their event Monday night at the Colony Hotel, featuring Dr. David Breneman, and his discussion; Classic Film, Fine Wine, and High End Design.

Tuesday nights at Maven Restaurant in Palm Beach is live jazz with Rick Moore at the piano, and he always has special musical guests. At Sant Ambroeus next week will be jazz as well with Mister Trombone on February 6th.

Jumpin’ into January in Palm Beach County

It’s the fifth anniversary of Legends Radio, and a celebration of the Great American Songbook with Nicolas King and Mike Renzi at the piano as his musical director. There is a very special charity event happening at the at the Contessa Gallery on Sunday, January 27th called “A MMAD Soiree.” The gallery is teaming up with MoviesMakingADifference, and will feature a fundraiser to support victims of child slavery, child labor, and trafficking in the US and Canada. The Palm Beach Modern and Contemporary International Fair opens this Thursday and will be on display from January 9th until January 13th.

The Winter Equestrian Festival begins on January 9th and takes place until March 31st in Wellington. It’s quite a spectacular to see!

Music & Theatre

The Great American Songbook is going to be honored at Swing Street Sings, a fabulous concert on Friday, January 11th. Marty Gilman will be at the helm, Rick Moore, and over a dozen talented people. Head to musicpalmbeach.com to get your tickets – it will be at the Unitarian Church in North Palm Beach and you’ll get a free CD. The event takes place between 7 PM to 9 PM – an evening you won’t want to miss!

The Memory Lane Band will be at the Che’ Restaurant on January 13th down in Delray. Reservations are required – should be a great night!

Camelot will be at the Lake Worth Playhouse from January 17th until February 3rd, and it should be a great show. The Kretzer Piano Music Foundation will be a doing a wonderful evening of music from King’s Academy Kids over at the Harriet Himmel Theatre January 15th at 7 o’clock. Christmas Cheer is here in West Palm Beach

Christmas is quickly approaching here in Palm Beach County, and there’s so much to do!

On December 13th from 12 PM until 1 PM, Four Arts is having their grand opening of the King Library. It’s free to attend – visit the fourarts.org for more information.

At the Maltz Jupiter Theatre on the 18th of December is their Annual Christmas Cheer Concert, and I’ll be there to greet you! Also, don’t miss a world premiere at the Palm Beach Dramaworks: House on Fire. It sounds very interesting – Check their website at palmbeachdramaworks.org for more. The Tony-award winning Hello Dolly! will be at the Kravis Center through December 16th with Betty Buckley at the helm.

Chillin’ in December in Palm Beach County

We’re starting off the month of December here in Palm Beach County, and before you know it, Christmas, Hanukkah, and the New Year will be here!

At Cafe Centro, there is a huge lineup of all kinds of great talent on a weekly basis. On Wednesday nights, it’s the Susan Merritt Jazz Trio, and on Friday nights we have Greg Jackson and Popeye Alexander doing the Motown sounds. On Saturdays we have Maycol & Lilian, doing their “That’s Amore” show.
